What is the Formula for Calculating SRM GPA?
The SRM GPA Calculation Formula:
GPA = Σ (Course Credit × Grade Point) ÷ Total Credits
- For each course: Multiply the credit hours by the grade point earned
(e.g., 3-credit course with ‘A’ grade: 3 × 8 = 24 grade points) - Sum all these products for the semester
- Divide by the total credit hours attempted that semester
Example GPA Calculation:
Course | Credits | Grade | Grade Point | Calculation |
---|---|---|---|---|
MA1001 | 4 | A+ | 9 | 4 × 9 = 36 |
PH1001 | 3 | O | 10 | 3 × 10 = 30 |
CY1001 | 3 | B+ | 7 | 3 × 7 = 21 |
Total | 10 | 87 |
SRM GPA = 87 ÷ 10 = 8.7
Note: This calculation is per semester. Failed courses (F/Ab) are included with 0 points but still count in total credits.
